Favorite of the month

Hey all,

And so we say good bye to April, and hello to May and completion of 1/3 of the 365 (actually 366 due to the leap year) challenge!

Time to reflect on the past 30 days of photos, and chose my favorite.

Day 118 - the contrast between the flowers being in colour and the backgrounds being in mono I think works really well. I like the almost industrial feel to some of them.

Day 119 - Simon the snail. I love the angle, the subject and the colour tone of this shot. And the fact that Simon came to my rescue when I was in such a rush!

The winner.......

Simon the snail!

And now over to you.....what was your favorite day?

Much love, and thank you all so much for keeping with me. 244 days to go!

Another shot of the lilly flower tonight, (the fiancee requested it) Couldn't quite get 'the' shot, but it's getting late and I have chores still to do!

Result....

Camera - shutter 1/200, ISO 250, f/22. Post - little bump in contrast, had to tidy up some of the background.

Much love!

365 Challenge - Day 119

Morning!

It is 9:30am, and I have 30minutes before I need to be out of the door (I have a family shin-dig down in Essex this weekend) I am stressing out, I haven't packed, or anything. And on top of that....I have to upload a photo.....a photo! Of what?! I racked my brains....and couldn't find anything.

Then I looked out of the window, with hope in my heart....and what did I find?

Result.....

Everyone, meet Simon. Simon, meet everyone! Camera - f/5.6, ISO 200, 1/15. Post - bump in contrast, and a little tweak in the colour curves!

Much love.

365 Challenge - Day 118

Evening everyone!

Hope you are all enjoying the start of the weekend.

Had some fun with flowers and selective colouring tonight.

Results....

Shot 1 - ISO 640, shutter 1/200, f/5.6. Post - selective colouring, big jump in contrast and saturation to make the flowers stand out from the mono background. Vignette.

Shot 2 - camera - f/3.5, ISO 640, shutter 1/800. Post - selective colour, jump in contrast, and vignette.

Shot 3 - camera - f/4.5, ISO 640, shutter 1/50. Post - selective colouring, jump in contrast and vignette.

Shot 4 (bonus!) I really love the colours in this shot, so left it as it is, and didn't use selective colouring. Camera - f/3.5, ISO 640, shutter 1/100. Post - little push of contrast.

Much love

365 Challenge - Day 117

Evening all,

Something a little different today. I found an interesting post on a site I check out yesterday, of a video (check it out here )

The video instructs you to set you camera to 1 second shutter speed, and aperture of f/5.6, and on a tripod. Focus in on the video, and when the video zooms in to the TV screen that is showing the coloured pixels flashing, start shooting away.

Results....

And as a bonus...there was a rainbow outside!

Much love.

365 Challenge - Day 116

Evening folks!

I am shattered again tonight! The gym is hard as nails at the moment!

We are currently in a state of 'drought' in parts of the UK (where I am) So thought it strange that today we were warned of floods.

Yeah. Floods.

Result....

Rain rain, go away....actually, stay for a bit. Camera - ISO 1250, shutter 1/200, f/10. Post, little crop and vignette.

Much love.

365 Challenge - Day 113

Afternoon all,

I wanted to get out and about today, but the weather today is very.....miserable. Lot's of rain around. So I took the chance to do another attempt at 'reverse lens' macro shot! (at the request of my Fiancee)

Result.....
So this is the flower that I tried the technique out. This is with the lens the right way around, of course. Camera - f/1.8, ISO 200, shutter 1/320. Post - added little vignette.

And these last two shots are with the lens the other way around! Camera - ISO 800, shutter 1/30, f/1.8 (all in reverse?!) Post - little vignette to the top most shot, that's it.

Much love

365 Challenge - Day 112

Evening!

A rather random mix of photos today, from bras to cricket.

Result.....

I have no idea why there is a line of connected bras, I really don't. But there were HUNDREDS.  Camera - ISO 1000, 1/4000, f/5.6. Post processing - Vignette, colour curve tweak.

And here are the people picking all the bras up (I think they were picking them up anyway) Camera - ISO 1000, f/5.6, 1/2000. Post - turn to mono, and vignette.

And good old English cricket! Camera - ISO 1000, f/8, 1/2000. Post - turn to mono and vignette

An old [fake] sea dog above a cornish pasty shop. Camera - ISO 1000, 1/2000, f/7.1. Post - Colour curve tweak, and vignette.

The sky was pretty impressive on the way home today - but as I didn't have my tripod I couldn't capture it quite how I wanted to. I tried anyway. Camera - ISO 400, 1/400, f/18. Post - tweaked a lot while in RAW (like brightness, contrast, shadow protection) then added vignette, cropped and colour curve tweaks.

Much love

365 Challenge - Day 111

Hey all,

Day 111! Brillaint!

Grabbed this quick shot today with my phone - so no details. I though it was ironic that he was trying to sell ice cream on such a cloudy, cold, rainy day!

After this shot drove off, only to stop and asked me if there was a problem, and why I had photographed him!

Have a great weekend!

Much love

Adam

365 Challenge - Day 110

Evening folks!

Little science experiment tonight, within a photo!

Result.....

So instead of explaining the camera, I will explain what the hell is going on in the photo! That is a white balloon on the left hand side, and of course that is water from the tap. If you rub the balloon and get it full of static electric then place it near running water.....this happens. It bends towards it. I haven't looked up why it does this....I assume it is the mineral/metal content in water that makes it bend....who knows! Looks funky though.

Go try it for yourself!

Much love

365 Challenge - Day 107

Evening all!

Another photo for the weekly challenge over at Digitalrev.com. This week the theme was 'panning'. Thanks to Raph for helping me out with tonight's shot - I enlisted him before our basketball session to throw my bball up and catch it, all while I was panning with the ball to catch the shot. The ball in focus, the background blurred!

Result....

Took a few attempts to get a shot that had the ball in focus, and a blurred, 'action' background! Camera - ISO 800, shutter 1/40, f/4. Post processing - none!

Much love

Adam

Sunday 15 April 2012

Look at this! I'm [almost, not really] famous!

Hey guys,

I was checking my profile over at Digitalrev.com, where I also upload my 365 challenge photos, and look what I found.....

Yup that is yours truly on the 'discover tab'. It's the page people go to discover new members, photos that are getting a lot of attention, and trending cameras etc.

I am featured under 'revving up' group which basically means a member is becoming popular with the community! But not only that I also have two photos on the 'trending camera' line too - my bubble shot from Day 101 and candid portrait shoot from day 100.

I am very proud - it is a big achievement for me, to be recognised by my fellow photographers in this way.

Thanks to everyone that follows my blog too - I appreciated you all!

Much, much love!

Adam
